I read with interest your post about positive mindset recently. I believe It really does play an important role as we face life's challenges. Yes, ageless is a good way to feel.
I love the discussions about ageism taking place in mainstream culture these days, Ashely Applewhite is leading the charge but there are many other amazing individuals speaking out as well. Pamela Anderson showing up at Paris Fashion Week without make up was one way of bringing it to the world's attention too!
I think an important part of this shift is we are seeing people do very cool things no matter what their age. I live in a vibrant mountain community and there are folks in their 80's hiking mountains, just as there are some awesome octogenarians and above writing great stuff here on Substack. All of it is inspiring and shows us how getting older can be different than the current cultural norms.
Thank you for pointing out the importance of mindset around this Patricia.
Yes, there really is a movement to show the world that being in the latter part of life does not mean giving up. It's so encouraging and will, hopefully, combat the inherent ageism that 's in society. Pamela Anderson showed us what a beautiful woman she is naturally without makeup, wasn't that a surprising, and pleasing, thing to do? There are so many inspiring people around and we can all play our part in changing this negative attitude to people (especially women) over 50. I'm glad you enjoyed my post, Donna.
Love this! Thank you for saying it all so clearly! Did any of you see the AARP feature? I think we’re all just growing along, busy and happy and active...now it’s a thing! 🤔🙃😁
The body may age with the passage of time, but the mindset can remain forever young and positive. This usually means that we maintain curiosity, openness, optimism, and a desire for new things. Having a youthful mindset can help us better cope with the challenges in life, enjoy life, and connect with people of different ages. Age is just a number; what truly matters is how you feel and experience life.
1. You’ve made some great points about embracing your 50’s, as we all should. I’m looking at this decade as the last 10 years of the 2nd Act of my life... and hopefully there will be an entire 3rd Act still to come.
2. I have found my glasses! Can I have them back please? 😂😂😂
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I started to think about making sure I stayed fit and healthy when I was in my forties. I now feel ageless. In your Third Act you will, too if you have a positive mindset. I look forward to reading your posts.
I am with you for changing the mindset of growing old. As you say each age has its pros & cons. I like ageless for any age. Why can't we be proud of being old, its not a disease.
A positive mindset can be very difficult at times and sometimes seems impossible. But that is nothing to do with age. It's those things that happen where you wish you had Harry Potter’s magic wand or you wish you could turn the clock back. But those things have nothing to do with growing old. It's life.
Exactly, Jo. We should be proud of being our age. We've all been through a lot to get here. I read in one of your posts that you have had a particularly awful time so being positive for you is going to take some doing. Life can be so cruel. You also say you want to get back into the real world, well maybe being a part of a mission to show that being older is not the end of the world, is a good way back in. I'm glad you're with me on this. xx
I created a platform (at age 68) called Graceing Agefully https://graceingagefully.com whose mission is to “change the culture of aging”. As a Baby Boomer we made our own bed that we are in today. We are the generation that deified the “youth culture” which went on to generate $millions actually $billions for companies built on the youth culture platform.
Now, we must dismantle that paradigm and pioneer the pro-aging movement.
We will do this by example. Each of us must be a living example and pioneer in the new age of aging.
Personally I am enjoying a freedom I have never experienced before. I turned 70 last year and I see no limits to my potential and power at this age.
It is not just about mindset, it is about changing your mind, changing your thoughts and creating your destiny.
Mindset plays such an important role as we age. I agree with CK, I like the term ageless.

I loved your "anti-aging", :pro-aging" comparison. Language is very important. Positivity should seep into every stage and age .

This is so true! Thanks for this message.
Taking control of our aging process ...I like that! Agree it’s a mind set. Glad I found for sure, Patricia! 😊
I love this piece for two reasons:
1. You’ve made some great points about embracing your 50’s, as we all should. I’m looking at this decade as the last 10 years of the 2nd Act of my life... and hopefully there will be an entire 3rd Act still to come.

Definitely Patricia xx
Here here. So true about anti aging. It doesn’t make sense. I like ageless.
Thank you. Ageless is a good way to feel.

It is not just about mindset, it is about changing your mind, changing your thoughts and creating your destiny.
The principles that guide me are:
1.Live every day as if you’re only halfway
2. Be the change you want to see in the world (Ghandi)
3. Time is the new money
4. Your LIFE is your work
5.START where you are, don’t STAY where you are
6. Be BRAVE, say YES, YES, YES!!
