Connectedness is important at any age, but particularly as we get older. It's also harder to maintain connections with friends as we age. I love that you don't necessarily have to check all the boxes to have the longevity benefits from being connected.

I think the science finds that the more of the levels you have the better your chances for longevity, but then they also tell us that loneliness and lack of feeling of connection is the killer so surely just to have that from a couple of the levels is better than none. That's what I think, anyway!

I’m so great full for my family and friends. They light up my life and chase out my shadows.

Letting connections slide is like allowing any other part of your health to break down. You’re so right when you say everything is connected.

Occasionally, I’m queuing at the post office. Or waiting in line at a coffee shop, and I see someone at the front of the queue telling the cashier about their life, and what they’ve been doing that week. In these instances it can be really difficult to remain patient. But sometimes, when I’m at peace, and not rushing to get somewhere, I wonder if that person has anyone they see and talk to on a daily basis. Possibly, this is where pets can be of great value. They’re not a replacement for a person, but they are a living being with whom you can share love.

Close friends are few, far between and life long. I believe 100% they are the family you choose.

Friendship would be the perfect way to progress your relationship with your children, as they become adults: see your children as responsible adults, who judgments you trust. Friendship is a context with in which you can learn to loosen your grasp and respect their decision.

We are such social creatures; what meaning could we find in life without the meaning we find in each other?
